Talk about an exciting night!
Over the weekend, the first part of the Emmys went down as the Television Academy held their ceremony for The Creative Arts Emmys and there were A LOT of big wins!
While the Primetime Emmys will take place next Sunday, the Creative Arts Emmys give the Academy an opportunity to honor various individuals that work on shows in other areas that aren’t awarded during the regular Emmys.

Well, over the weekend, several shows were honored for their AH-Mazing hard work, and there were even history makers as Amy Poehler and RuPaul BOTH won their FIRST Emmys. Not to mention, Game Of Thrones totally set a record!
Despite being nominated 17 TIMES in the the past for both writing and acting in Parks and Recreation and Saturday Night Live, Amy nabbed her first Emmy for Best Comedy Series Guest Actress for her appearance on SNL with Tina Fey! Not only is it Poehler’s first Emmy win, but her win with Tina marks the first time a joint entry has won the category!
Aside from the blonde comedienne though, RuPaul also won big as he nabbed the Best Host for Reality or Reality Competition Program award! The reality host was obviously SHOCKED as the 55-year-old gushed:
“I haven’t landed yet. I can’t believe it. This is really so crazy. I really did not expect this├óΓé¼┬ª I’m still not sure if I won! I don’t know if I’m dreaming or not, because I’ve never felt like this before ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ maybe in a drug flashback or something.”

As for the other big winners of the night, well The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story did pretty well taking home four statues, and Netflix‘s Making a Murderer took home four as well!
The biggest winner though was Game of Thrones — surprise, surprise — as the hit HBO show nabbed nine more awards! What makes this historic is it is now the MOST decorated TV drama of ALL TIME with 35 Emmys! Frasier holds the all time scripted show record with 37 and SNL has the most total with 48! Wow.
