After teasing this news for months, Cynthia Nixon FINALLY confirmed that she’s running for Governor of New York. Per Nixon, not only is New York her “home,” but she has realized that “something has to change.” Hear! Hear!

On Monday, the Sex & The City alum took to Twitter and posted:

How very Miranda of her!! And, it’s a good thing the SATC3 movie is dead in the ground, because we doubt she would’ve been able to juggle filming AND a gubernatorial campaign. Oh, and if the 51-year-old wins she’ll be the first openly gay woman to hold the position!
We’re wishing Cynthia the best of luck as she embarks on this new chapter of her professional life. Go get ’em, girl!!
