OMG no! What a terrible world this would have been without Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter!!
But, it’s true. When the actor was initially offered the role, he turned it down becaues he would have been away from home for too long.
The original contract had Dan filming six movies in Los Angeles. However, when the films were moved to England and the number of movies were reduced, his parents eventually accepted the offer.
Dan said:
“Chris Columbus had seen David Copperfield and said, ‘I want to audition this boy’. They went to my parents, and, at the time, the deal was to sign on for, I think, six films, all to be done in LA, and my mom and dad simply said, ‘That’s too much disruption to his life. That’s not gonna happen.’
I didn’t know any of that had gone on. And then, maybe three, four months down the line, the deal had changed, and it was going be to shoot two films, and they’d both be done in England, and so they said, ‘OK, we’ll let him audition.’ And then it all went from there, really.”
Phew! Thank goodness his parents came to their senses!
To not have Daniel as Harry is a devastating thought, indeed.
Also – filming the HP movies in El Lay?? Really?!? Whose bright idea was that??
