It’s confirmed! Bernie Focker will return!
Earlier this month, reports came out that Universal might bring Dustin Hoffman back to shoot pickup scenes for the Meet The Parents threequel, in an effort to funny it up.
They’ve just announced that he will in fact return, although he’s not coming cheap. He’s costing them the fee that they initially refused to pay him, but we definitely think they’ll get their money’s worth.
He’ll be starring in some major scenes with Barbra Streisand, and he’ll be featured in a major scene at the end of the movie with all the other main characters.
We think Universal made the right decision. The Dustin Hoffman factor is definitely a selling point, and maybe he’ll bring in enough box office that they’ll continue with the franchise. We’ll have Dustin to thank eighteen years from now when we’re watching Early-Twenties Age Fockers.
