Oh, Emile…
Today Emile Hirsch was all business as he showed up in his suit seeking a plea deal for the alleged attack and choking of a female VP of Paramount Digital, Dani Bernfeld, during a Sundance Film Festival party.

According to the reports, at some point Hirsch approached Bernfeld from behind, “put her in a chokehold,” and threw her on a table. Then the actor got on top of her and started choking her before witnesses were able to get Hirsch off of the exec. Park City cops were called to the scene and reported that Hirsch’s “eyes were red and glossy” it looked as if he had been drinking and under the influence of alcohol.
When Hirsch was questioned, the actor simply stated that he had a verbal argument with the Bernfeld. In classic Hollywood fashion, he also claimed that he only had a few drinks that night but then of course said later that he didn’t remember what happened.
For all of this, Emile is facing charges of aggravated assault and intoxication and could see up to five years in jail as well as a $5,000 fine for the third-degree felony and then a $750 fine possible 90 days in jail on the misdemeanor.
For these charges, a preliminary hearing was requested by Hirsch’s representatives and the date of August 17th was set as the trial date by Judge Paige Peterson. It’s being reported that Hirsch’s attorneys have told the court they are looking into a possible plea deal, but they haven’t yet reached the final stage of negotiations and there’s still room for them to fall through.
We’ll have to wait and see how this all shakes out, until then, let’s just hope he lays off the booze and WWE Smackdown tournaments.
