Eva Mendes won’t be stepping out in public with Ryan Gosling anytime soon!
It’s no secret that the longtime lovebirds aren’t exactly the most publicity-happy celebs on the planet — but now, the 49-year-old actress is opening up about why fans shouldn’t expect to see her accompany her man at any (!!) red carpet events in the coming future. On Thursday, the 2 Fast 2 Furious star took to Instagram to share a romantic clip from her and Ryan’s 2012 hit, The Place Beyond the Pines, which showed the real-life lovers locking eyes before riding off on a motorcycle. She captioned the upload:
“Magic is Real. We did not meet on set. The magic started way before but here’s a little magic captured on camera.”

Fans quickly began flooding the comments with sweet sentiments, eager to see any content between the two as there hasn’t been much as of late. One admirer, in particular, didn’t shy away from revealing their own wish for the pair ahead of Ryan’s inevitable press tour for this year’s highly-anticipated movie, Barbie, in which he plays Ken opposite Margot Robbie’s titular character. They wrote:
“I really hope Barbie will get through the Awards Season just to see you w Ryan. I know, I’m a selfish and probably I dreamer, but I will never stop to dream about it!!”
Now THAT would be something special to see! After all, the pair has been together since 2011 and there isn’t much photo proof of their relationship. This might be purposeful, though!

Eva quickly set the fan straight, revealing just why we WON’T be getting any new photo content from the two anytime soon. She revealed:
“you’re the best ! What a cool comment, thank you. But we don’t do those things together. Like these photos I’ve been posting, Im only comfortable posting because it’s already out there.”
She added in a subsequent comment, clarifying that there was one red carpet exception for the pair’s joint film:
“oh wait — for those who may catch me in a ‘lie’ — we only were on the red carpet together once when promoting [The Place Beyond the Pines]”
So, she’s only interested in recycling old stuff from the vault, not creating new stuff, right? Well, maybe not. While responding to another user’s comment, the Ghost Rider lead added:
“By ‘not comfortable’ , I mean exposing our very private life that we value. I’m still dying to do another movie with him though…”
Hope exists! We’d sure LOVE to see the two on screen together again!
This all comes after Eva revealed back in 2020 that part of the reason she keeps her life so private is because her and Ryan’s two daughters, Esmeralda , 8, and Amada, 6, are too young to give their “consent” for photos. She explained on the ‘gram at the time:
“I have always had a clear boundary when it comes to my man and my kids. I’ll talk about them of course, with limits, but I won’t post pictures of our daily life. And since my children are still so little and don’t understand what posting their image really means, I don’t have their consent. And I won’t post their image until they’re old enough to give me consent. As far as Ryan and I, it just works for us this way, To stay private.”
