We wish this was a joke. We really wish this was one big old joke. But it isn’t. It’s happening. An television, if you can believe it, gets a little less dignified.
The CW has picked up a new series called Extreme Musical Chairs. Yes, it is about regular people playing the popular CHILDREN’S game of circling around a set of chairs while music plays and bouncing on the first available seat when the music stops.
It’s a cutthroat competition, or at least that is how the network is playing it off as. In one report, the show was described as ├óΓé¼┼ôa physically demanding competition with multiple rounds of elimination set in an indoor obstacle course.”
Wait, what? Where do the chairs come into this? This sounds just like Wipeout! We’re confused!
While we’ll admit there is something mildly entertaining about idea of watching grown men fight over a chair, there’s also really something sad about it. Plus, think of all the birthday parties that are going to get SUPER INTENSE after this show airs!
