Hollywood has picked their next country darling!
On Sunday, Maren Morris walked away with the Best Country Solo Performance Grammy, which was certainly well deserved after she slayed her collaboration with Alicia Keys at the awards show. However, many people were left wondering about this young up-and-comer.

10. Miz Morris is A LOT older than you may think!
Like many of the country singers out there, Maren gives off a fun and youthful vibe. While she isn’t old in any way, the brunette beauty is in fact 26-years-old. We know, she looks SOOOO much younger. We imagine that’ll come in handy in the future.

Maren is dating fellow country singer Ryan Hurd. The twosome are currently on tour together too. Watch out Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, you may have some competition in the future. LOLz!
8. She is an established songwriter.
The country artist may be on her way to becoming an industry vet, but she’s already made a name for herself as she’s written songs for Mr. McGraw and Kelly Clarkson. Maren even penned a few originals for the drama Nashville. Oooooh.
7. The songstress didn’t make it on American Idol OR The Voice!
Shockingly, Morris auditioned for BOTH American Idol and The Voice, only to be rejected. In fact, several contestants have since performed her hit My Church on the reality programs. Smh.
6. While Maren is a country girl, she appreciates all genres!
The hitmaker says the Dixie Chicks and Sheryl Crow inspired her early on. However, she also digs Chaka Khan and Britney Spears‘ songwriter Max Martin. Huh!
5. Morris self-released My Church on Spotify all the way back in 2015!
Yup, the Texas-born star dropped an EP on the streaming site which featured her breakout hit. The EP generated more than 2.5 million streams in the first month and landed her a deal with Columbia Nashville Records. Bravo!
4. Outside of the Grammys, Maren’s already an award winner!

In 2016, Maren was given the Breakthrough Star Award at the Billboard Women in Music 2016 event. Oh, and she also won the New Artist of the Year award at the CMA Awards. She’s slated to receive the Breakthrough Artist Award at Music Biz 2017. Get it, girl!
3. Maren is against inequality in the industry!
The young songwriter has spoken out against the stereotypes that female artists have been trapped in. Back in July, she reminded Billboard readers that female singers “do have more to talk about” than just love and relationships. Preach!
2. She isn’t a Trump fan.
During the election, Maren said it was “very alarming” that the then GOP-nominee had female fans. Ouch.

After touring with Keith Urban in 2016, the It-girl is scheduled to join Sam Hunt on his 15 In A 30 tour later this year. We have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more of Maren in the future. Woo hoo!
