Fired Grey's Anatomy Star Isaiah Washington Admits Slinging Homophobic Slurs Ruined His Career!

Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words can ruin your career!

It wasn’t too long ago that former Grey’s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington was on top of the world, but after the actor twice used a hateful and derogatory slur for homosexuals in public he was fired from the show and quickly lost his way.

The straw that broke the camel’s back was dropping an f-bomb backstage at the Golden Globes in 2007.

Isaiah revealed:

“After the incident at the Golden Globes, everything just fell apart. I lost everything. I couldn’t afford to have an agent ├óΓé¼┬ªI couldn’t afford to have a publicist ├óΓé¼┬ªI couldn’t afford to continue.”

We can’t imagine why anyone would ever utter such a bigoted phrase, but when a high-profile celebrity does it TWICE in public it’s even more of a head-scratcher.

Spreading hate not only offends those targeted by the hateful message, but it implicitly condones other bigots who behave similarly.

The 50-year-old actor is working to make amends, though!

After spending the past six years as a chief in a village in Sierra Leone — srsly, that happened — Isaiah returns to the big screen in the movie Blackbird, which is described as a gay coming-of-age story set in Africa.

He described the journey he’s been on:

“For the last six years of my life, I’ve been fighting off bigots. It’s, like, bigots want to embrace me, and I politely take their arms from around my neck. I don’t share their views, never have… I’ve been so incredibly blessed. I’ve worked with some of the greatest professionals in town. I stood at the Golden Globes. I worked with Sandra Oh, bro! My life has been great.”

We’re glad things are looking up for him and we sincerely hope he’s learned to be more accepting of a diverse range of lifestyles.
