Idina Menzel has played some iconic characters over the years, but who would have guessed her next big role would be on Lifetime?
According to Deadline, the Frozen actress is set to star in a Lifetime remake of the 1988 film Beaches!
Taking the role of CC, played by Bette Midler in the original Garry Marshall classic, the 45-year-old will also take on the film’s iconic songs Wind Beneath My Wings and The Glory of Love!
But that’s not all — Menzel will also record additional songs for the contemporary remake, which is set for a 2017 premiere!

Beaches tells the story of two young girls, CC and Hillary, who share an unexpected and lifelong friendship.
Menzel’s CC is an aspiring singer trying to make it in El Lay when she is discovered by a big time director.
The yet-to-be-cast Hillary, played by Barbara Hershey in the original version, is the daughter of a civil rights lawyer who searches to find her own destiny.
Not too many actresses can do justice to a character already played by Midler, but we think Idina is perfect for this role!
