Oh, Kanye West…
Apparently, the rapper is so upset by the negative reaction to his latest clothing collection because he “doesn’t understand” why people don’t like his “White Lives Matter” shirt. Is he really that dense?!
As we’ve been following, Ye has been the center of controversy ever since he wore a long-sleeve t-shirt with the Pope’s face on the front and the problematic slogan “White Lives Matter” on the back at his YZY show during Paris Fashion Week on Monday. He was joined by conservative star Candace Owens, also wearing a version of the top, at the event. Even models walking the runway to premiere his Season 9 collection were in the pieces.

The inclusion of the phrase caused many stars and critics to share their disgust for Kanye’s runway show online, including Jaden Smith who revealed he walked out of the show upon seeing the shirts! (FWIW, Kendall Jenner supported his decision to leave, too!) Kim Kardashian‘s ex also struck up a feud with Vogue editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who thoughtfully clapped back at his decision to shine a spotlight on the shirts, which she called “pure violence.” They’ve apparently “apologized to each other” for the online ordeal — though they still don’t see eye-to-eye on the matter. So, yeah, there’s been a LOT of s**t hitting the fan this week! And yet, Kanye apparently doesn’t understand why!

Speaking to Page Six on Wednesday, sources who have spent time with the designer since the designs have gone viral say he’s baffled by the negative response and sad he didn’t get his message across effectively. One insider shared:
“He thinks it’s a PC thing. He wants to give a voice to the ‘other side’ [of the race debate in America]. He doesn’t understand why people aren’t seeing that.”
Just so we’re all clear, according to the New York Times, the Anti-Defamation League has called the “White Lives Matter” slogan “hate speech,” which is “attributed to white supremacists (including the Ku Klux Klan).” It was coined as a reaction to the Black Lives Matter movement. Are these really the people he wants to give a voice to?! WTF.
Also, is he SO removed from the political climate of America these days to not realize promoting “White Lives Matter” would no doubt cause a little backlash?? Like anyone should have predicted this! Just saying! He may be no stranger to creating a commotion with his fashion choices, but it’s surprising to hear he’s moping about the reaction! Thoughts, Perezcious readers? Can you believe he doesn’t understand the hate?? Sound OFF (below)!
