Kate Beckinsale has been one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood for over a decade now.
But apparently, Michael Bay didn’t really consider the British bombshell to be much of a looker — and he made sure she knew it!
The actress worked with the Transformers director on his 2001 film Pearl Harbor, where he made comments about Beckinsale’s appearance.

During a pre-taped interview for Friday’s Graham Norton Show, the 42-year-old admitted:
“I don’t think I fitted the type of actress Michael Bay the director had met before. I think he was baffled by me because my boobs weren’t bigger than my head and I wasn’t blonde. I’d just had my daughter and had lost weight, but was told that if I got the part, I’d have to work out. And I just didn’t understand why a 1940s nurse would do that.”
This doesn’t surprise us one bit, seeing as Bay casts Megan Fox in pretty much all his films now.
But the actress remembered the filmmaker didn’t stop making comments about her looks while doing press for the film — telling reporters she was cast because she “wasn’t so attractive!”

She continued:
“When we were promoting the film, Michael was asked why he had chosen Ben [Affleck] and Josh [Hartnett], and he said, ‘I have worked with Ben before and I love him, and Josh is so manly and a wonderful actor’. Then when he was asked about me, he’d say, ‘Kate wasn’t so attractive that she would alienate the female audience’. He kept saying it everywhere we went, and we went to a lot of places.”
Wow, we can’t believe that happened!
Luckily, Bay would NEVER get away with saying something like that during a press tour today — but why would a director ever want to degrade his actress like that in the first place?
Either way, Kate clearly has the last laugh — because she legit still looks like she’s in her 20s, while Bay hasn’t stopped transforming.
