Katherine Heigl Confirms She's "Done" With Grey's, Says Why

And the inevitable finally happened.

It should come to no surprise that Katherine Heigl has announced her official departure from the series that made her a star in the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly.

The set sweetheart turned royal diva told the magazine that she has approached Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes about being let out of the rest of her 18-month contract and Shonda agreed. Katherine explains:

“I am done. We just finalized our agreement. Everyone had been working really hard to find an amicable and gracious way of letting go and moving on. It’s sad but it’s what I wanted.”

Though one might guess that her eagerness to do more movie roles was at the base of this decision, Katherine is actually using the baby card on this one, saying that her newly-adopted daughter, Naleigh changed her “desire to work full-time.├óΓé¼┬¥

To disappoint the fans even further, though she was scheduled to appear in the final five episodes of the season, she will no longer be doing so. That means that her Jan. 21 episode cameo was the last time you’ll ever see Izzie Stevens.

And does she care? Not really.

She says: “I know I’m disappointing the fans. I just had to make a choice. I hope I made the right one.”

Oh, you didn’t. Trust us. In about a year, you will sorely regret this.
