Katy Perry Is Guest Starring On Raising Hope!

And she’s not playing herself, so we can’t wait to see her flex those acting muscles!
Katy Perry, who is close friends with Raising Hope star Shannon Woodward, has secured a guest starring role on the comedy as a prison guard who knows Shannon’s character from the past.
Based on the picture (above) she tweeted with a message reading, “I hope I don’t get type-cast,” we think fans of the show are in for a treat.
The California Girl explained how her acting gig came about in a statement reading:

“Shannon Woodward is my best friend. A couple weeks ago, I was home, just toasting up a frozen chicken fillet when she called me up and asked if I wanted to do something ├óΓé¼╦£fun’ for a change and try out a guest role on her TV show. I thought, ├óΓé¼╦£Sure, I have nothing else to do, and I like chillin’ with my best friend.’ [Showrunner] Greg [Garcia] was nice, but I hope he’s not secretly sabotaging my potential future career by typecasting me in the role of just a looker, so that I would never be able to play anything more challenging.”

Greg Garcia then gave his own two cents on the situation and explained that he hopes this appearance will help Katy “get her singing career off the ground,” saying:

“Shannon Woodward told me that her friend Katy was interested in doing an episode and I thought, ├óΓé¼╦£Why not? Let’s do your friend Katy a favor. Then she came in and did a terrific job. She was hilarious. And now people are telling me that Katy is also a singer. I sincerely hope that her appearance on the show helps her get her singing career off the ground. It’s a tough business.”

LOLz! Maybe after this they’ll finally start playing some of her tunes on the radio!
