Instagram model Maecee Marie Lathers was arrested after causing a fatal car crash while high on drugs — and she was so far gone that it had her thinking she’d traveled through time and aliens were after her.
According to Local 10, the crash occurred on August 10 in downtown Miami. Per reports, just seconds before the crash, the 24-year-old accelerated to nearly 80 MPH as she ran a red light, striking a Range Rover that then hit a Suzuki, and killing two of the three people inside. Abraham Molina and Jesus Rubio died and Molina’s girlfriend Juanita Hernandez was injured while the Range Rover driver sustained minor injuries. So sad.

The model is now facing ten charges including DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and causing injury. In body cam footage released last week, the young woman can be seen lying topless on the road near the crash site. She’d been vomiting, and as EMTs tried to speak to her, she let out a bloodcurdling scream. Later, someone asked her:
“I think you were involved in a crash, does anything hurt you?”
She replied:
“My name is Mercedes. Mercedes! I’m from the future.”
She also made a comment about having a crystal ball before telling offices that “she’s on tusi,”as one cop was heard saying over his radio. BTW, that is a party drug also known as “pink cocaine,” which is usually made with ketamine and food coloring.
As paramedics were finally getting her onto a stretcher, she cried out:
“Aliens, they’re coming. They’re coming, go, go, go, go, aliens are coming! Go, go, go, go, go!”

But despite this wild and tragic incident, the IG star has NO recollection of it! On Monday, Maecee appeared in court to face a Miami-Dade judge who would determine whether or not she’d be placed on bond. You see, she had initially posted bail and was restricted to house arrest — until she was ordered to come in for pre-trial detention last week when DUI manslaughter charges were filed.
During the hearing, a police detective revealed that the suspect was given Narcan after the crash and did not remember anything 12 hours later. That said, this is a common reaction after someone has been given an overdose-reversal drug. Toxicology reports showed she tested positive for ketamine and MDMA, both common drugs in “tusi.”
Prosecutors also played the aforementioned arrest video in court — which Maecee watched in tears. She seemed deeply emotional throughout the whole hearing, and it probably didn’t help that the judge was unwilling to set her free for the remainder of her case. Per Local 10, Judge Teresa Pooler ordered the suspect to remain in jail, declaring:
“I think she’s extremely dangerous.”
The judge believed the defendant’s actions showed “no responsibility” for others and “a lack of regard,” especially since she wasn’t supposed to be driving in the first place because her license had been suspended since January. Per police, she even allegedly tried to walk away from the scene but was held back by bystanders. Whoa. She was trying to do a hit-and-run?! That looks even worse. No wonder the model was so upset during the hearing…
At this point, she has pleaded not guilty to all ten charges. Her next court date is scheduled for October 22 with a tentative trial date set for November.
