Such a loss to the mountain biking community…
Jordie Lunn, a true legend in the sport, has passed away at the age of just 36 years old.
According to reports, Jordie was riding a trail in Cabo San Lucas with pals Darren Berrecloth, Brayden Barrett-Hay, and Greg Watts when he was involved in some sort of crash which gave him a fatal blow to the head.

It sounds like this wasn’t even a stunt gone wrong — so tragic.
Fans will know Jordie became known for some truly amazing and death-defying GoPro biking videos over the past few years, such as this one:
And this even steeper tree drop which we can’t even wrap our heads around:
He even walked away from insane crashes like this one:
It’s unclear what went wrong during this trail ride, but his family has referred to the incident as “a simple but tragic accident.”
They also wanted it known Jordie “lost his life doing exactly what he loved.”

“On Wednesday, October 9, 2019, Jordie was trail riding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with friends.
We are shattered to inform you, a simple but tragic accident occurred and Jordie sustained a fatal head injury.
Jordie lost his life doing exactly what he loved.
Jordie had an incredible 20+ year career as a mountain biker. He will always be cherished for his heart and love that he gave to his family, friends, and fans, as well as the incredible talent that he had on his bikes.
We will inform you at a later date regarding a celebration of his life.

Jordie began as a BMX racer. In 2003 he was the highest ranked North American DH racer in the World Cup and the fastest Canadian at Mont-Sainte-Anne. He later turned to free riding and famously became the first mountain biker to land a corked 720 back in 2007.
While he was known for his intimidating appearance — bulging muscles, head-to-toe tattoos, literally, gold grills in his teeth — he was described by friends as a very gentle person. He spent a lot of his time coaching children on mountain biking.
Greg Watts, one of the three friends who were present at the time of his death, wrote on Instagram:
“GUTTED. We lost a human that you hope everyone could be like. If he doesn’t make it to heaven then heaven doesn’t f*cking exist. I had the pleasure of spending his last few hours alive with him along with @dberrecloth @braydenbarretthay and @lone_wolf_productions and he was truly enjoying what he loved. Perfect day of riding in a perfect location. Just didn’t seem real and I still can’t grasp it. My condolences go out to his family because I know he loved his brothers and I know he was their glue. #longlivejordie ?”
