Naya Rivera Opens Up About Having An Abortion During Her Glee Days

Naya Rivera is not afraid to get REAL in her new memoir, Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes and Growing Up.
Specifically, the 29-year-old got candid in her soon-to-be-published book about getting an abortion during her Glee days back in 2010. Apparently, Miz Rivera learned she had become pregnant shortly after splitting from now-husband Ryan Dorsey. In fact, at the time, Naya decided to not tell the actor about the situation and chose to terminate the pregnancy during a day off from the FOX hit.

In a candid chat with People, the brunette beauty opened up about her decision to discuss this important moment in her life. The TV starlet explained:

“It was very scary to open up about everything. It’s not something a lot of people talk about, but I think they should. I know some people might read it and say, ‘What the Hell?’ But I hope someone out there gets something out of it.”

Well said! Of course, after this truth bomb was teased to the public, the Devious Maids actress was forced to defend herself on Twitter (below).

Hear! Hear! Not to mention, Naya’s abortion isn’t the only delicate subject the mother-of-one addressed in her memoir as she also opened up about her past struggles with anorexia.
In an excerpt obtained by the magazine, Rivera wrote:

“By the time I was a sophomore, I started feeling that what had begun as a game had maybe gone too far. I just avoided food at all costs. If my mom had packed a lunch for me, I’d either trash it or find some excuse to give it away… I was so young and it just seemed to be the norm. Everyone was going through similar stuff. I had no way of knowing if I was going through it worse. I was juggling my feelings and it makes me sad that there are girls still going through that 15 years after I went through it.”

Intense stuff! While others may’ve kept private information like this to themselves, the California native hopes her book will not only help her fans, but give her son Josey some insight down the line. She concluded:

“I hope Josey will read it one day. I hope it gives him a better perspective on the issues women face.”

Thankfully, Naya’s memoir drops on September 13 so we’ll be able to get all of the juicy insight first hand VERY soon. Will YOU be snagging a copy? Be sure to let us know (below)!
