Nick Cordero's Wife Got To Video Chat With Him On Mother's Day -- 'He Could Hear Me'

amanda kloots provides positive update on nick cordero

This is such great news!!

As we’ve been reporting, Broadway star Nick Cordero has been battling coronavirus in the hospital for quite some time, and fans have turned to his wife Amanda Kloots for frequent updates about her husband’s condition. On Sunday, Kloots took to her Instagram Story to reveal she had the chance to FaceTime with Cordero that day, which included a lot of “positive little things.”

Beaming, she shared:

“I asked him to look up, and he did, and I asked him to look down, and he did. That was a fantastic Mother’s Day gift to start my day off with.”

While it may seem minor, it is possible that his increased responsiveness could mean this is the start of him being able to hear and follow commands, which “would be huge” for his recovery. Obviously, it is still “very, very early” in the process, but Amanda couldn’t help but be overjoyed:

“I got really excited about it because it seemed to show that he could hear me and follow a command.”

As we reported last week, Miz Kloots shared that Nick was making “good progress” following his tracheostomy procedure the week prior. Since being taken off sedation, he has begun opening his eyes:

“The doctors say Nick is looking good. His settings on everything are getting better, so he says that there’s good progress. And now we just need him to wake up.”

She added at the time:

“His eyes are opening up but they’re not connected to anything right now. So we just need them to connect to something.”

Nick has been battling COVID-19 since late March, and to “get an idea of the mindset of when they wake up out of a coma and what they remember,” Amanda has been engaging in “super helpful” discussions with others who have had loved ones recover from the deadly virus. The 38-year-old explained:

“One of the things they said is that the first step is that the eyes open. The second step is that the eyeballs sort of track [movement]. We are at eyes open, which is great. We just need, like, the mental status to kick in.”

The Tony Award nominee had to have his right leg amputated last month, and has also received a temporary pacemaker for his heart, all without his family by his side due to hospital restrictions. We are continuing to hope for Nick’s speedy recovery!!
