Scientologists Banned From Wikipedia!

atcurise.jpg

The powers that be over at Wikipedia have made a ruling against the Church of Scientology being allowed access to edit entries on their website.

The “free encyclopedia” and eighth most popular site on the Internet banned all contributions from IP addresses affiliated with the organization for allegedly pushing its own agenda on the site. After a six month deliberation, the site├óΓé¼Γäós Arbitration Committee voted 10 to 0 (with one abstention) in favor of the move and the ban goes into effect immediately.

Many individuals are banned from the site for adding propaganda or false accusations (remember when Sinbad was declared “dead”?), but this is the first time a high profiled organization has been given the boot.

The folks over at the website stress that their site offers a “neutral viewpoint” and insist that “use of the encyclopedia to advance personal agendas ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ such as advocacy or propaganda and philosophical, ideological or religious dispute ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ or to publish or promote original research is prohibited.”

Scientology’s problems with Wikipedia comes just on the heels of the opening of an actual trial that could see the dissolution of the organization’s French chapter.

Rough week to believe in science, huh?
