Selena Gomez is sending a message!
On Wednesday, the Kill Em With Kindness singer appeared to extend an olive branch to her former bestie and kidney donor, Francia Raisa, by wishing her a VERY public happy birthday after they had a falling out! Taking to social media, Selly G posted three throwback photos of the pair. She also included a sweet caption that somewhat hinted at their recent rift, saying:
“Happiest of birthdays to this special human beings. No matter where life takes us, I love you.

Interestingly, the How I Met Your Father actress DOES follow the Disney Channel alum again on Instagram, but she has not liked or interacted with the post at this time. That said, the 35-year-old was very active on the ‘gram throughout her birthday by reposting celebratory posts from other friends in her IG Story, so it sure seems possible she may have seen the nod and chose to ignore it.
But the fact that she’s even following the Lose You To Love Me artist is a big deal! As mentioned, these two hit a rough patch in November after Selena revealed in her documentary, My Mind & Me, that her only friend in Hollywood is Taylor Swift. To many fans, the Only Murders in the Building star was likely just making an observation about her relationships with other music industry peeps — not literally everyone she knows working in the entertainment industry — but Francia apparently didn’t see it like that. She quickly unfollowed the star on social media and bashed her fans for bullying her.

It didn’t help that the singer then seemed to throw some shade as she made critical remarks about the backlash online, such as by commenting on TikTok:
“Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know.”
It’s easy to understand why the Rare Beauty founder was upset. The comment took on a life of its own! But this only seemed to deepen the narrative that something had gone terribly wrong between the performers. Then a resurfaced interview on the Spanish TV show Primer Impacto from Francia’s dad El Cucuy broke down the feud further, in which he claimed their friendship deteriorated after Selena refused to stop drinking after the kidney transplant!
As you may know, the Secret Life of the American Teenager alum and the Wizards of Waverly Place star were longtime friends when Francia offered up her kidney in 2017 after Selena’s had failed amid her lupus battle. Obviously, Selena can do whatever she wants with her body post-transplant, but we can understand why Francia was hurt by her choices. Now, we wonder if this b-day post was a signal to the world that they’re A-OK or an attempt for Selena to get back in her friend’s good graces? What do U think? Sound OFF (below)!
