Ashley Hamilton is mourning the death of his ex-wife Shannen Doherty.
While the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum was locked in a bitter divorce battle with one of her exes in her final days, one of her other exes is speaking out about what an impact she had in his life. In fact, he saw her as his “guardian angel.”

On Monday, Ashley spoke to Us Weekly about his ex-wife, to whom he was married to from 1993 to 1994, after her tragic death from cancer at just 53 years old. He told the outlet:
“Shannen was not only my wife, she was my guardian angel. Even though things don’t always work out the way we hope they will, she stood by my side during some of my darkest times. My love and admiration for her lasted far longer than our short-lived marriage.”
Awww. You can tell what total admiration he had for the late Charmed star.
While its not clear which of his “darkest moments” Shannen helped him through, Ashley added that he, himself, is a cancer survivor:
“Watching her battle that horrific disease with such stoicism was inspiring to many, but even more so to me since I am a cancer survivor.”
Sadly, though, he never reached out to her after she announced her own diagnosis. He added:
“The world lost a free-spirited soul and my heart aches for her and for all those who loved her. May she rest in peace.”
While Ashley had nothing but great things to say, it’s no secret the two had their fair share of relationship struggles back in the day. In January, Shannen even claimed on her Let’s Be Clear podcast that their difficult marriage contributed to her being fired from 90210.
