Singer Monica Jumps Off Stage To Confront Man Punching Woman Mid-Concert!

Wow!

Monica just came to the defense of a fan who was being attacked during a concert over the weekend — and the moment was seriously heated!

On Saturday night, The Boy Is Mine artist was on stage during the Riverfront Music Festival in Detroit when she stopped the show to help a woman who was allegedly punched by a man beside her. In a video of the now-viral moment, the 42-year-old can be seen on stage in a hot pink ensemble when she catches sight of a male attacker in the crowd.

Horrified by the situation, she shouted:

“You don’t hit no f**kin’ lady like that!”

After she called out the fan, the rapper, full name Monica Denise Arnold, jumped off the stage and approached the man to hash it out face-to-face. She was followed by several security guards and reportedly didn’t retreat until the man was kicked out of the festival. Once back on stage, the Angel of Mine vocalist apologized for losing her composure — though for good reasoning! She explained:

“That s**t triggered me. I seen him punch that lady in the face, I lost my f**kin’ temper. I apologize ya’ll. I apologize from the bottom of my heart.”

Stressing how disturbing she found this confrontation, the R&B performer added:

“I was gonna knock [his] ass out with this f**kin’ mic.”

It is currently unclear what led to the punch or if the viewers knew each other. Some on the internet have claimed they were boyfriend and girlfriend, but Monica believes they didn’t know each other. Addressing the fight in a comment under The Shade Room’s Instagram uploaded of the incident on Sunday, she explained:

“I apologized there & I’m apologizing here for my actions but no one would take action ! I was so triggered , I watched & she didn’t appear to even know him! It appeared to be about space during a packed concert! He punched her with ALL his strength! My intentions were to prevent her from being hit again & she wasn’t ! I asked for help, it fell on deaf ears! It was like seeing my mother or an aunt be assaulted!! This woman was 50+ I pray she’s ok! Happy Sunday to everyone!”

We understand why she’s apologizing for losing her cool, but considering she was sticking up for a woman getting punched in the face, we think her outburst was quite justified, don’t you?!

In fact, in a statement to CBS News, Riverfront Music Festival spokesperson Andrus Macdonald praised the star for defending her fans in the face of violence, saying:

“We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Monica for her courage and decisive intervention during an unfortunate incident at our Festival. Her actions demonstrated a commitment to the safety and respect of her fans, reinforcing our belief that she is not just an extraordinary talent, but an extraordinary individual as well.”

He went on to note the organizers of the festival were “truly saddened that an event meant to bring joy and unity to our community was marred by an act of violence” and that they are currently working with law enforcement to hold the attacker accountable for his actions. He has not been identified at this time.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Monica has paused her performance to address unwanted behavior in the crowd. Back in April while in Washington D.C., the artist told rowdy concertgoers to “calm that s**t down” or take their issues outside. So, it’s clearly not something she messes with! Thoughts?! Do you think Monica has to apologize for this? Let us know (below)!
