Tiger King Star Doc Antle Pushes Back Against Show's Claim That He Has Multiple Wives!

Count Dr. Bhagavan ‘Doc’ Antle as another unlikely Tiger King star who is now trying to walk back and clarify his portrayal on the hit Netflix show!

Now, the self-styled “guru” and tiger aficionado is trying to help the world make sense of the many complicated relationships he appears to have with women on the show. And in a new interview with People, he walks back perhaps the most salacious claim against his lifestyle, claiming he does not have ‘multiple’ wives. In fact, he’s not even married at all!

The big cat enthusiast spoke to the mag this week from his home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he owns and runs The Institute for Greatly Endangered and Rare Species (T.I.G.E.R.S.), which had been featured prominently on the hit Netflix streaming series. And in talking about his eccentric lifestyle, the tiger trainer clapped back at the “absurdity” of people thinking he’s a polygamist because of his portrayal in the show.

The middle-aged zoo owner said:

“I’m not married. My wife died 25 years ago in a car crash here in Myrtle Beach. I’ve never been married since.”

Technically being unmarried is an important distinction for Antle, apparently.

In the next breath, he goes on to tell the pub how he’s led a very, um, active dating life in the years since his wife’s passing, saying:

“I certainly have lovely girls that I’ve met in my life who share time and opportunity with me, but they are by no means my wives.”

Yeah, no kidding. Married or not, wives or, um, other, the show went out of its way to focus on some of the women attracted to Doc, the tigers, and his lifestyle in Myrtle Beach. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! He just definitely gave off a vibe that has not yet been easily forgotten by those who have watched the streaming series.

It seems like that irks the animal aficionado, too; after all, he points out to the mag, half his staff at the preserve is male, but the Netflix cameras made it seem like it were him and a bunch of women:

“And they are all 40 to 50 years old — they’re not kids. If you look at the special, it appears that I do not have male help. Why is that? Well, there’s 25 of us here. There [are] 12 men. Where the heck are they in that show?”

Having watched Tiger King ourselves, and being a little creeped out at Antle’s portrayal in the show, we must say… the man has a point here! Imagine that!!
