Incredible! This Woman Took A Video Of Herself Having A Stroke To Help Her Doctors Diagnose Her!

Woman records herself having a stroke!
Wow! This woman is awesome!
49-year-old Toronto-area woman Stacey Yepes drove herself to the ER after she was experiencing stroke-like symptoms, which she learned about from a PSA on TV!
At the time, the doctors diagnosed Miz Yepes with stress, but her symptoms struck again two days later! So, Stacey pulled over, and videotaped herself (below), talking people through what was happening to her.
Once she went back to the hospital, she was told to go to Toronto Western Hospital’s stroke center:

“In all my years treating stroke patients, we├óΓé¼Γäóve never seen anyone tape themselves before. Her symptoms were compelling, and the fact she stopped and found a way to portray them in such a visual fashion, we were all touched by it.”

At the stroke center, it was determined that Stacey was having a mini-stroke, or a transient ischemic attack or TIA, which they said was a result of atherosclerosis. In case you’re not a doctor, atherosclerosis is when plaque builds up in the arteries, which in Stacey’s case formed a blood clot blocking a small artery on a side of her brain. That’s what caused the opposite side of her body to be affected.
So sad! But we’re really impressed by how Stacey reacted to such a scary thing!
It just goes to show that the more aware you are of yourself, the healthier you can be! Also, PSAs are totally helpful!
