Donatella Versace Taps Zayn Malik To Design For Versus -- And Then She Disses One Direction!

Zayn Malik is partnering up with Versace for a collaboration.
Move over, Gigi Hadid and Tommy Hilfiger, Zayn Malik is partnering up with Donatella Versace!
It was officially announced Wednesday that the former One Direction member will be designing a capsule collection of men’s and women’s clothing for Versus, Versace’s diffusion line for younger buyers previously helmed by current Yves Saint Laurent designer Anthony Vaccarello.

Yay for Zayn!
Not yay for Vogue magazine who sat down to interview him about the collaboration during London Fashion Week only to have the 23-year-old bail with girlfriend Gigi and leave Donatella to do the interview by herself.
Bad form, Z!
But his indifferent rock-star attitude is just what the doctor ordered for the young, hip, and sexy brand, we guess, as reports indicate Donatella seemed completely unfazed by his actions. Cool.
The 61-year-old recalled meeting the Pillow Talk singer when he was still with his former band, of which she was never a fan:

“NO!.. [laughs]..no [I was never a One Direction fan]!├óΓé¼┬ª But I love Kate Moss, she forced me! She liked One Direction, I don’t know why!├óΓé¼┬ª And Zayn really stood out for me because he was the one who talked the least and did not put so much emphasis on himself. And that is what I liked about him.”

LOLz! Tell us how you really feel, girl!
She also articulated why she’s so keen on working with him now:

“Why I want Zayn now: He can make me talk to his followers. I want to listen to the language, I want to learn. I want to know what they think, what they like. This is a new generation, [which] if I do not go through someone like Zayn I will never reach. Can I say something? I think he is smart to do this together with me now. Not because it is me, but because many rock stars they do their own line in fashion which is not relevant├óΓé¼┬ª you know, just a license. For him, this will be real fashion.””

Mmm, the lure of those sweet, sweet followers. We get it.
Although he rudely bounced on the interview, Zayn later emailed Vogue to state how excited he was for the collaboration:

“The thing I most want to do with this opportunity is learn. Learn about how the process works, learn to be confident in sharing my ideas and of course be part of a process that I feel I genuinely contribute to. I hope that I can develop a collection with Donatella that I can truly say reflects who I am and what I like.”

We can’t WAIT to see what he has in store. Lots of leather, probably.
Thoughts???
