In many situations when you see an officer working at a bar, wedding or even as "body guards" they are not working on the tax payer's money. It's considered an off duty extra work. Here in Canada when police provide this kind of security or help at construction sites or high traffic events they are PRIVATELY paid for by the company or individual who needs their security and while they are allowed to wear their uniforms and are acting in an official context they are off the clock and therefore not being paid for by taxpayer money. Is it not the same in the US? Maybe it is and it was their decision to hire two officers and pay for it themselves. This is a fact that should be checked before they are criticized perhaps unnecessarily.
