What’s most shocking in Dance Cook‘s swindling brother story is that the man who can’t clean up after his dog and sees funny people is making millions, and that his idiot brother thought he could get away with faking a $3 million check to himself out of Cook’s account.
Or maybe they are just not the most brilliant family!
Darryl J. McCauley is being held on a $3 million bail after allegedly siphoning $10 million from his brother over the last year and a half.
McCauley – who is Cooke’s older half brother – was making $150,000 a year handling Cook’s finances, but was fired in November and asked to send over Cook’s files. That’s when he got the brilliant idea to cut himself a $3 million check and forge Cook’s signature. Maybe he thought Cook would find it funny. It’s on par with his sense of humor – which is to say, it’s not funny at all, it’s just stupid.
He then apparently took himself on a little vacay with the $3 mill.
After a search of his residences in Maine, authorities found a lot of questionable cash. McCauley’s wife, Erica, tried to say it was profits from her make up boutique, but that ain’t ringing true with her tax statements!
At Wednesday’s arraignment, McCauley’s attorney told the judge that “My client [McCauley] denies that he ever took money from his brother without his brother├óΓé¼Γäós knowledge or consent” and that he is “Critical to Cook’s success.”
Cook did not appear in court and his lawyer told reporters that the money moving was “unapproved and unauthorized.”
