And he's just getting started!
Get the rundown (below):
Richard Simmons' iconic fitness studio Slimmons officially closed its doors on Saturday.
While the health guru didn't make it to Beverly Hills to officially say goodbye with one last class, he did share a final heartbreaking message to his fans to thank them for their support!
In a lengthy post, the 68-year-old wrote on Facebook:
This is truly the end of an era.
While the shut down of the Beverly Hills studio isn't too surprising considering Richards hasn't visited the space in TWO YEARS, it's still hard to part ways with such a special landmark. We always hoped the health guru would come out of hiding to grace fans with his presence once again!
Elaborating on his bittersweet decision, Simmons explained:
There has been a lot of gossip circling around Richard Simmons lately.
Well, it appears the fitness guru is ready to set the record straight on the rumors that he is supposedly "in transition." As the 67-year-old's publicist previously clarified, Richard is not in the middle of transitioning — but that doesn't mean he isn't an ally to the LGBT community.
In a note on Facebook, the weight loss expert explained:
UPDATE 3:40 PM EST: Richard's rep, Tom Estey, elaborated further on the reports that the fitness star is transitioning into a woman.
Slamming the claims, he shared with People:
"It's not true. He is not transitioning into a woman. He has decided to live quietly the last few years. He had knee surgery a few years ago and has a bum knee. He is still on Twitter and Facebook and works behind the scenes continuing to inspire and motivate people to lose weight. When he decides to come back, he will come back."
Additionally, Tom confirmed that Richard "was in the hospital over the weekend for dehydration and was out the next day. He's a human being. He was in the public eye for over three decades, but he deserves his privacy. He should be able to have a private life. He just needed a break. He is still taking care of the people who need his help."
All that matters is that he's healthy!
We're just hoping he's feeling better!
Well now that it seems he's finally back home, a new report is claiming the famous fitness star is transitioning into a woman. Huh? The National Enquirer is saying Richard has been out of the public eye because he has already undergone breast implant surgery and has been going through hormone therapy over the past two years.
A source told the tabloid the 67-year-old considered having a "vagina built by doctors," and that he "never really felt comfortable being a man."
The glossy also quoted an insider, dishing about a 2013 trip to Argentina Richard reportedly took:
UPDATE 6:03 PM EST: It appears Richard has finally been released from the hospital. Photos seem to show the Louisiana native rocking a beard while leaving the hospital in the backseat of a car.
Shots show the same vehicle — which also had the eccentric star's longtime housekeeper in the passenger seat — arriving at Richard's home on Monday night.
We're just glad he's actually out of the hospital now, and hope he's feeling better.
UGH, we hate not knowing what's going on with Richard Simmons!
On Monday, Richard's longtime maid Teresa Reveles was spotted at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles DAYS after the fitness guru was allegedly discharged for "dehydration". Per the icon's sources, he was admitted on Friday night and allegedly left Saturday afternoon.
Now fans are calling into question Simmons' actual health status after spotting the maid at the hospital as early as yesterday. It's just one of the many controversies the television personality has faced after going into seclusion around 2014.
To make matters even fishier, back in March one of R.S.'s close friends alleged that Teresa and a few other insiders are keeping him hostage in his home. The former pal claims Ms. Reveles is controlling everything Richard does or can do.
Either way, it's alarming to know that the 67-year-old still might be in the hospital three days after checking in. It's definitely a big departure from just a few years ago when we'd see the beloved figure out and about town.
So, what do YOU think is really going on with Richard?
