One of Michael Jackson's closest friends and confidants, Dame Elizabeth Taylor will not be attending today's public memorial for the late King of Pop.

Why?

The retired actress takes to her official Twitter to explain! Yes, she has one. Yes, that's really her!

Says Taylor:

"I've been asked to speak at the Staples Center. I cannot be part of the public whoopla. And I cannot guarantee that I would be coherent to say a word. I just don't believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event. I said I wouldn't go to the Staples Center and I certainly don't want to become a part of it. I love him too much.

My love goes out to Katherine and Michael's beloved children."

Very well said, Dame Elizabeth.

Via her official Twitter, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, 77 years young, set the record straight regarding her upcoming hospitalization, Tweeting, "Although my grief over Michael could not be any deeper, I am not on suicide watch as some of the cheaper "rags" would have you believe."

She goes on to write that, "I will always love Michael from the depth of my being and nothing can separate us" and that she's going to the hospital to "complete a test I was in the middle of."

Good! Because we couldn't stand losing her too!

Elizabeth Taylor has revealed her grief toward the passing of her longtime friend, Michael Jackson.

She says, "My heart … my mind are broken. I loved Michael with all my soul and I can't imagine life without him. We had so much in common and we had such loving fun together."

Taylor was even planning to attend his live concert comeback, "I was packing up my clothes to go to London for his opening when I heard the news. I still can't believe it. I don't want to believe it. It can't be so."

She continued that Michael "will live in my heart forever, but it's not enough. My life feels so empty."

"I don't think anyone knew how much we loved each other. The purest, most giving love I've ever known. Oh God! I'm going to miss him. I can't yet imagine life with out him. I guess with God’s help … I'll learn. I keep looking at the photo he gave me of himself, which says, 'To my true love Elizabeth, I love you forever.' And, I will love HIM forever," Taylor said of their special relationship.

So sad!

Even though she's in the hospital, 77-year-old screen legend Elizabeth Taylor has had no trouble keeping herself busy.

Taylor has grown quite fond of Twitter while in the hospital for a "routine visit" this week and according to her spokesman, Dick Guttman, she's "fallen in love" with the site!

Aww.

We have to give it up to her.

At the age of 76, Elizabeth Taylor still knows how to have a good night out on the town.

Just Tuesday, Miz Taylor was spotted out in West Hollywood having an early dinner at gay bar The Abbey.

It’s great that she was out with her friends and assistants, but looking at her, in her wheelchair and appearing so frail, it kind of breaks your heart a bit.

Let’s hope she stays healthy for a long time!

Dame Elizabeth Taylor attended the Macy's Passport AIDS fundraising event in Santa Monica on Thursday night, her first major public appearance since being hospitalized this summer.

And, unfortunately, she is not well.

Elizabeth could hardly speak.

We're told her teleprompter wasn't working, but we're not sure we believe that.

This may be her last public appearance ever!

Elizabeth Taylor's publicist is denying reports that she is hospitalized and close to death.

Her rep tells us:

"Ms. Taylor is fine. The Rumors which began in England about her health are dramatic, overstated and untrue. Her hospital visit was precautionary. She will be returning home shortly. At present, she is surrounded by family, friends and fabulous jewels."

Good to know!

Diamonds are forever, and so is Elizabeth Taylor.

Sad news.

Elizabeth Taylor was reportedly put on a life support machine after suffering congestive heart failure Wednesday evening.

The screen legend was said to have deteriorated after she was initially diagnosed with pneumonia last week.

National Enquirer snitches revealed that her children were at her bedside and doctors warned she might not survive.

Pull through, Miz Taylor.
