We doubt this will be a enough to subdue the wrath of PETA!
The production company for A Dog's Purpose, Amblin Entertainment, revealed on Thursday that they were canceling the flick's premiere and press junket amid those dog abuse accusations. We can't say we're surprised!
As you may recall, earlier this week, shocking footage leaked of a frightened German Shepherd being forced into a pool of water on the film's set. This upsetting incident obviously resulted in the famed animal rights organization to call for a boycott of the Dennis Quaid-starring family movie!
Since the company and distributor, Universal Pictures, are looking into the matter, it only seems right that they are hitting a pause button on the celebration and press junket for the film. In a recent statement, Amblin Entertainment explained:
We had a feeling this was coming…
Yesterday, TMZ published a chilling clip capturing an animal trainer shoving a visibly frightened German Shepherd named Hercules into a pool full of water that was being churned by EIGHT motors on the set of A Dog's Purpose.
In a swift response from PETA, the animal rights' organization is calling for a boycott of the movie "in order to send the message that dogs and other animals should be treated humanely, not as movie props."
The statement given to THR reads:
This is NOT okay.
With just about a week until A Dog's Purpose's theatrical release, new footage has surfaced that is sure to keep animal lovers from seeing the film.
TMZ obtained footage from the flick's production in November 2015, which shows one of the pups being forced into terrifyingly turbulent water to film a scene in Winnipeg, Canada.
The chilling clip captures an animal trainer shoving a visibly frightened German Shepherd into a pool full of water that was being churned by EIGHT motors.
The pup was so opposed to getting into the recreated river that it clawed at the edge of the pool the entire way in.
What's even scarier is that the pooch actually went under at one point. And while we don't know if the script called for the animal to be submerged, we could hear someone repeatedly yell:
People aren't too happy with actress Jennifer Beals right now.
And that's because the actress was caught on camera in the Vancouver area returning to her car where she had left her dog inside during a hot summer day.
The window of the Ford Escape was cracked while a German Shepherd puppy was seen panting inside.
One reporter took to Twitter to share the sad snap:
J. Cole knows exactly what the people want.
The rapper's new single Wet Dreamz recalls the time he lost his virginity to his note-passing crush from math class. So, we'd expect a predictably sexy music video to complement the hormone-driven tale.
But what sells better than sex? Puppies!
As the ultimate metaphor for "puppy love", the music video follows an adorable German Shepherd puppy who falls for a cute Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in his obedience training class.
This noticeable absence of the over-sexualized imagery we're almost guaranteed to see from songs with a similar subject matter is refreshing, playing into the intimate and vulnerable tone Cole conveys through his lyrics!
Ch-ch-check out the furry frolicking in the video (above!)
