Dr. Seuss, Roald Dahl, and Russell Brand?
The English funny-man has just announced some exciting news, and it was not what we were expecting!
Known for his relationships, biting wit, and for never holding back what he's thinking, most people wouldn't expect the words Russell Brand and children's author to be in the same sentence.
But that's exactly what has happened with news that Russell is in the middle of
We're sure everyone who was excited to go to one of Russell Brand's upcoming shows is disappointed, but they completely understand.
With the news that Russell's mom, Barbara, has cancer — breast cancer, for the second time — he has
From documenting LiLo's daily drama to turning in BAFTA-nominated performances, Oprah Winfrey has certainly kept herself busy since announcing her quasi-retirement!
And things promise to get even more intense this Sunday when she sits down to interview Russell Brand on Oprah Prime!!!
(In case you're confused, her show used to be called Oprah's Next Chapter but this weekend it's undergoing a re-branding. A re-BRANDing, get it? Ha!)
We know what you're thinking: Katy Perry's kooky ex-husband is HIGHlarious! Any interview with that British bloke must be a real knee-slapper, right?
Nope, not so much!
Russell Brand isn't the first celebrity to use Philip Seymour Hoffman's unexpected death as an opportunity to discuss bigger picture issues like the ineffective and decades long war on drugs.
His recent column in The Guardian was still earthshaking, however. Even for him.
Russell basically blames a flawed treatment system and misguided drug laws for his colleague's death. Furthermore, he argued that - unlike Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, a pair of celebrities who might be more deserving of a horrible demise (his theory, NOT ours) - Philip did nothing immoral.
He was an addict. That's it.
Because of that inarguable fact and because of our inhumane drug laws which make being an addict a crime, Russell thinks the 46-year-old actor was perhaps destined to die sad and alone.
NME is always on the cutting edge when it comes to music, especially in the UK.
Whether you had a great comeback like Lily Allen or David Bowie or an amazing breakthrough like Lorde or Haim, being nominated for an NME award is a true mark of being cool!
Unless they nominate you for Villain of the Year! Seriously, Miley Cyrus?! As bad as gay-hating Vladimir Putin? WTF??
Find out who else is the best, and apparently the worst…AFTER THE JUMP!!!
Usually politicians wait until they’re actually in office before creating a scandal like this!
Nevertheless, Russell Brand, who was talking like a potential Prime Minister candidate one minute but running his mouth the next, is once again in some hot water!
The comedian and former hubby of Katy Perry was speaking at prestigious Cambridge University last night to a crowd of more than 1,300. The evening was all just a jolly good time at first - Russell even brought up Harry Styles!
But then Brand shouted out an anti-gay slur at the audience!
Russell reportedly called a group of students, “Harry Potter p**fs” and then told them to “shut up.”
The outburst was met with cheers and laughter by most of the crowd. But a Cambridge Student Union LGBT rep Charlie Bell commented in the school’s newspaper that he hardly found what Russell said funny.
Well, that escalated quickly!
Russell Brand has done a marvelous job of tickling funny bones on his Messiah Complex tour, but not every gig can go off without a hitch!
An audience member interrupted one recent shows by repeatedly yelling "Gandhi is a c*nt!" from the cheap seats until he got the comedian's attention!
Thankfully, Mr. Brand is a seasoned pro who know exactly how to handle the heckler!
Ch-ch-check out Russell's EPIC diss of the totally disrespectful drunk dude who insisted upon disrupting the show (above)!
Ugh!! That's so annoying! People paid good money to see the comedy show, not a heckler!
We're glad he was put in his place!
We've seen Russell easily outwit TV news anchors before, but this was even more satisfying!
