Vanessa has been pushing this for a while and we're glad she got her way!

After dating for four years, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo\ are engaged.

"We're excited and incredibly happy about our engagement and we look forward to a wonderful future together," said Nick and Vanessa in a statement.

Lachey proposed with a platinum, asscher cut diamond ring with trapezoids on the side from Bader & Garrin.

"They're so happy, doing great," claims a source. "Thrilled about it."

Let's just hope they're not planning a newlyweds reality show!

We're thinking someone still has some open wounds they need to deal with.

Last week, Jessica Simpson was spotted having dinner with her mom, BF Eric Johnson and some friends. Little did she know that she would be sitting about 3 tables down from her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, and his longtime girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo.

At first, we heard that the parties kept to themselves, without much to-do or bother. Now, we're hearing someone was spewing sour grapes at the far table - and it wasn't Nick!

Sources at the restaurant overheard Jessica get nasty with her server, saying: "I hope Vanessa likes her clothes because I bought them for her, since Nick took all my money."

Ouch! Low blow! True, but still…

Then, another patron at the place confessed to seeing Jessica get really drunk, "drinking margaritas and doing shots of tequila," all because she couldn't deal with Nick being so close to her. The whole encounter was described by one source as "weird" and "awkward".

Wowza. It's been five years now. You'd think she'd have moved on by now!

Jessica Simpson and her new boyfriend Eric Johnson were treated to a pretty horrific surprise last night, when they arrived at The Red O restaurant in El Lay and discovered that her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, was dining there with girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo!

Eek!

However, sources claim that what could have been a really ugly situation was actually quite calm, because the two barely interacted!

Insiders say:

"They didn't interact. They didn't even come to face-to-face with each other. Jessica was more fazed by the amount of paparazzi than anything else."

Well that's good!

It's nice to know that even though those two had a pretty messy split, that they can remain civil and amicable in the presence of each other!

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo bond while showering together twice a day.

She said:

"We shower, honestly, at least twice a day. We shower in the morning and we shower at some point during the day or before bed. It's so funny because we've turned it into an intimate time for each other.We both have our own shower heads so we just talk while we're soaping up and doing our hair. It's not a sexual thing and it's not a romantic thing, it just becomes an intimate thing.

You're in your full form, so to speak, and you're vulnerable and we just both let our guard down. I've had some of my most intimate conversations with him in the shower."

We bet if those two got some work, they wouldn't be so excited about their bathing rituals.

Hasn't he learned his lesson?!

Nick Lachey is considering starring in a reality show with his girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo.

He said:

"There's nothing in the works right now. I think it would pose a unique set of challenges. I guess the positive is that I'm actually familiar with those challenges. The negative would be I'm also familiar with those challenges. It's hard to say never to anything. You never know.

Ew! We'd rather watch reruns of Newlyweds! But he wouldn't shut up about Vanessa!

Nick continued:

"It's four years now. She's probably the most unique woman I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. She's feminine and beautiful and sexy and she's also probably the most powerful person I've ever had the opportunity to know. She's very unique, headstrong, passionate. a great girl.

She's a leader, a go-getter, not one to sit back and let things be dictated to her. She and I are very much alike, two fiery people. We have the same birthday [and] we're very similar personalities, which is great. She's the most unique and special person I've ever known!

I'm sure at some point I will get engaged but not even I know when that moment will be."

After four years, you better figure that shiz out! But try and keep it off TV… Please!

Nick Lachey will be promoting a couple of unknown rappers who go by The Movement at Los Angeles' Les Deux club in a couple weeks, further proving his career is going nowhere.

We also hear that his relationship with Vanessa Minnillo isn't going so well and that they were seen fighting before walking the Kentucky Derby red carpet.

We bet he misses those Newlyweds days!

The Enquirer is reporting that Nick Lachey is pretty strapped for cash after his new album has been put on hold indefinitely!

The singer was "expecting a big payday from his new album" but with no release date in sight and all of his money tied up in the project, things are looking pretty grim — especially for girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo!

Now the couple can't afford the big wedding that they both want to have. In fact Nick's been "trying to pick up hosting gigs" just to get some extra cash!

We knew he looked miserable hosting The Sing-Off!

Surely they can get a reality show deal for their wedding? But we know how that usually ends up, don't we, Jessica Simpson?

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo flew in style this holiday season when the couple took a flight from Cincinnati to New York… in coach.

Embarrassed as all hell to be the only celebs who don't fly first class, the couple sat together quietly, paid for their cocktails, and "were very low-key," noticed a source.

Yeah, because they were hoping no one would recognize them! How sad to realize your Hollywood career hasn't even warranted you the privilege to fly in first class.

But more surprising is the fact that these two are still together.
