The addition of Ellen DeGeneres to the American Idol judges table was just one of the huge changes the show faced this year.
All and all, it wasn’t the best season, but reflecting on it, Ellen can now speak on how things will change for her next year and what her role will be on the show from here on out.
When asked about her first year on the show, Ellen admits that there was a lot of time figuring out her place on the judge’s table, but that she has a better understanding of what she’ll be doing from here on out:
“Your first year anywhere is going to be tough, because you’re trying to figure out what your role is. I think next year my role will be to be exactly who I am, sometimes funny and sometimes serious, and I think I’ll probably learn to be a little harder on people without being rude. But I think it was a fine line for me to walk this year.”
Probably what made her first year so tough was the excessive focus on Simon Cowell’s departure from the show, overshadowing her arrival by A LOT. And she knows it too:
“It’s always been Simon’s show. There’s a whole dynamic there. You want to be respectful, and it was his last year, and so a lot was going on that needed to happen. I think next year will be a different year.”
Safe to say she’ll be happy that he is gone, yeah?
But now she has Simon’s replacement to worry about.
Hey girl! You know who would do a killer job and never steal any of your spotlight?
