Listen up, KatyCats! The reason Katy Perry left American Idol might not be what you think…
After the 39-year-old made the surprising announcement of her departure from the reality competition series, rumors began to swirl. Of course, many fans thought she was saying goodbye to Idol because of all the drama she’d been in last season, while others went as far as to think she and her hubby Orlando Bloom were preparing for their second child. But the Firework hitmaker’s hairstylist is revealing what HE knows about the exit.
While speaking to The US Sun over the weekend, Dean Banowetz said Katy didn’t say goodbye to the show because of pregnancy or backlash — but for something else entirely:
“[She quit to] launch a new album and go on a world tour. [She] has to have time away from the ABC series because she wants to trek around the world promoting new music.”
OMG!
This will be the first album she’s released since Smile in 2020 — AH-Mazing news for her fans!

While acknowledging the Part Of Me singer could potentially “return to the judges panel in the future,” he also revealed who he thinks is likely to replace her as a judge on Idol:
“Katy is irreplaceable … [but] ABC is considering Miley Cyrus and Pink to replace Katy in 2025.”
Dean went on to somewhat favor Miley Cyrus over Pink, saying she is “awesome” and would “change” the show in a good way. As far as Mz. Perry, however, he said of her departure:
“[She] dedicated seven seasons to the show [and now] needs to fulfill her career dreams.”
