So maybe this Idol judging switch-up IS getting interesting, after all!
As of now, Mariah Carey is the only judge signed on for American Idol’s twelfth season, taking over for Jennifer Lopez!
Now, reportedly, Randy Jackson will only be taking on a mentoring role this season, with Steven Tyler out for good.
So who can fill the remaining seats at the judges’ table???
Supposedly, the youngest Jonas Brother, Nick Jonas is a frontrunner, along with rapper/producer Pharrell Williams!
An insider claims:
“Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge. They flew him into L.A. last week for final meetings.”
Well dayum! Seems like they really ARE moving quickly with these replacements, huh?
A source also states that the show’s producers think that if Nick were to take the position, he would bring in a younger demographic to the show.
As for Pharrell??
Reportedly, he is currently in contract negotiations and everything is “looking good.”
We previously saw Pharrell take on a similar position on the first season of The X Factor USA, when he served as a guest mentor alongside Paula Abdul, during the judges’ houses round!
Skateboard P is definitely in tune with what’s hot in music and knows how to spot talent and we think Nick would bring in the teen fans, as well!
It’ll be interesting to see if these guys actually get signed on!!!
