U.S. Halts Imports Of Japanese Dairy And Produce

Japanese produce
As a result of Japan’s Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear complex leaking radiation after it was damaged in the devastating earthquake and tsunami earlier this month, the United States will halt imports of dairy products and produce from Japan.
The FDA said those foods will be detained at entry and will not be sold to the public, but other foods, including seafood will be screened for radiation and sold.
Despite the fears of the food being exposed to nuclear radiation, officials say the doses are low and not a threat to human health unless consumed in excessive quantities.
Japanese foods make up less then 4 percent of all U.S. imports and the FDA expects no risk to the U.S. food supply from radiation.
For our sake (and yours), we hope they are right!
