Dr. Drew Explains Why Teens 'Sext'

Even after all of the proven negative consequences of sending nekked or erotic pics in text messages, why do teens STILL “sext”?

Dr. Drew‘s got the answer for us and it’s not just their raging hormones that lead to the bad decision.

Apparently, they can’t help it!

Between the ages of 12 and 21 (and maybe even longer for males), the part of a teenager’s brain that provides foresight into the future and considers consequences literally isn’t functioning! Instead, they rely on a part of the brain that responds to excitement and arousal!

That’s why it’s so important for parents, whose brains function at a higher level, to compensate by imposing their ability to consider the consequences of an action on their children.

This also means, as much as we all hate to admit it, mom and dad were probably right most of the time. Ha!

Don’t take our word for it though. Check out the video above and listen to Dr. Drew break it down for ya!
