That’s not a typo! Ben & Jerry‘s is rolling out new ice cream flavors that reflect what a city tastes like!
The whole idea is, of course, a marketing scheme to get people involved and excited about Ben & Jerry’s ice cream… but who cares?? It’s ICE CREAM.
Basically, the new campaign is asking residents to get involved for a chance to help create their local flavors! They’re calling it City Churned, and it will kick off in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, New York, Portland and Seattle. In each city there will be a microsite that will track the votes and ideas of everyone living there. They will then add up the activities of each city, and translate them into special flavors — somehow.
We guess that’s the magic of it all!
Here’s an example according to a source:
‘In New York, on-time subway trains will count as votes for either waffle cone pieces or caramel, depending on the train line. In Seattle, support for chocolate or vanilla will be determined by the number of plaid versus plain shirts on the streets.’
Honestly, we couldn’t care less — we just want to eat ice cream, and we hope it doesn’t taste like rush hour traffic! LOLz!
It will all kick off as soon as the Ben & Jerry’s truck starts its new tour! So… soon, we hope! Ha!
