Amanda Kloots gave a tearful update to fans on Saturday, sharing that she had recently picked up Nick Cordero‘s ashes.

As you’re likely aware, the Broadway star lost his lengthy battle to coronavirus on July 5 after over 90 days in the ICU. Throughout his journey, his wife kept fans in the know via social media on his milestones and setbacks. She has also been open about her grieving process after his passing.

Taking to her Instagram Story over the weekend, the 38-year-old explained what went through her head after retrieving her late husband’s ashes:

“It was beyond surreal and horrible. But they’re in my possession and a good friend of mine said some beautiful advice: look at it as you have him with you now. Which is really a nice way of looking at it, which is true.”

Kloots continued by thanking her loved ones (below):

“It’s been really hard, some really hard weeks where I’ve literally felt like I can’t even function, where I’m kind of just in a fog where I don’t know what I’m doing or what I’m saying. Thank god for my brother and my sister-in-law because they’ve rescued me and Elvis a lot.”

Daily workouts with her sister-in-law have given the momma of one something to do “every day,” adding how she has also taken up tennis, which isn’t “connected to my old life” to stay busy:

“No matter how sad or in a fog I am, I do it because I always feel better afterward.”

In addition to exercise, the moving process has been something to occupy Amanda’s time. Of course, even that has been difficult at times, especially while unpacking certain things like The Grinch and Cordero’s items:

“I started bawling because that just made me sad thinking about Christmas already. It’s a double-edged sword of trying to make yourself happy and also being in the constant reminder of the change and everything that’s happening in our lives right now. It’s been hard, you know, sorting through everything and all of Nick’s stuff and deciding what to keep.”

She added:

“I know Nick would have just been through the moon, so it makes me excited to move in and live there and make it our own and make Nick’s presence there.”

Family support has been huge over the past few months, and is something Amanda continues to rely on:

“The first thing is the friends and family support system is wonderful. You know, even people that just drop a text that say ‘thinking of you,’ or ‘love you,’ or ‘you’re not alone,’ or something.”

Sending lots of continued support to Amanda and Elvis!!
