Last night’s episode of American Horror Story: Freak Show was fairly mellow, considering viewers are still being introduced to characters and conflict…
But that didn’t stop Ryan Murphy‘s deviously created Twisty the Clown (played by John Carroll Lynch) to scare us straight into next Wednesday, with his brutal killing scenes and creepy faux smile.

Not only did viewers witness multiple gruesome murders last night, but they finally got a peek at the vile mouth behind the performer’s sh*t eating grin mask! Warning, it’s not pretty!

1. Twisty’s got the whole “quietly lurking” thing down pat. This unsuspecting toy store associate didn’t see his ultimate death by scissors coming!
2. After Gloria Mott picks up Twisty for a “handsomely paid” playdate with her bored son, things take a violent turn! Fascinated with the circus creature, Dandy creates a diversion and looks in the clown’s bag — only to find freshly killed body parts strewn about! The evil creature knocks the teen out and runs from the mansion.
3. After playing at the Mott house, Twisty goes back to his trailer — where he’s holding a teen and child creepily captive. The killer attempts to entertain them with a wind up robot stolen from Dandy, but resorts to exposing the toy store boy’s sliced head from earlier! Surprise!
4. Dandy discovers Twisty’s creepy camp when the teen girl tries to escape. Instead of helping her return to normal life, the odd boy flings the girl over his shoulder and brings her back to the clown. We find out Dandy is a total sociopath, very interested in helping Twisty keep captives.
5. And finally, we see what’s under Twisty’s fake grin — really doesn’t need an explanation, since it’s visually horrifying!
