Ryan Murphy Reveals This Week's MAJOR American Horror Story: Roanoke Twist Will Turn Season Six Into A 'Completely Different Show'!

American Horror Story: Roanoke has been one of the scariest seasons yet, but after next episode’s MAJOR twist, the FX horror anthology will be veering off into an entirely different nightmare!
For the first time in AHS history, the show’s main cast, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Kathy Bates, will be playing completely different roles than the first half of the season!

Creator Ryan Murphy dished about the unprecedented sharp turn in this week’s episode, and teased the craziness — and returning AHS vets — to come!
As for Season Six’s game changing twist, Murphy told fans to expect a “huge bomb” to be dropped towards the end of Wednesday’s episode that “takes you into a complete other world.”
He explained to E! News:

“The thing I love about episode six as you are watching it is that we drop a huge bomb at the end of the third act, where you kind of are in disbelief at what the chyron on the screen is saying. And then that takes you into another world and the stakes are really, really, really high…It’s a completely different show. It’s a completely different narrative form. Things that you thought to be true about people are revealed to not be true.”

So, anything we think we know from the past five episodes can be written off as untrue due to the old unreliable narrator trick — like Rosamund Pike in Gone Girl or Donald Trump in real life.

According to Murphy, the twist was kept so under wraps that even the actors weren’t privy to it until after filming began! He continued:

“I had to call up Sarah Paulson and Kathy Bates. We didn’t tell them [the twist] this year. So we had them thinking this idea that they were playing one thing through the whole year, and right around the time we started shooting episode four, I called them up and I said, ├óΓé¼╦£OK, I didn’t want to tell you this, but it will be revealed that you’re actually something completely different than what the audience thought you were.’ And they all loved that challenge.”

But the cast member who had the most fun with his double role was Peters, who will go from playing a gay Revolution-era ghost to something even more “hilarious.” He added:

“It’s probably my favorite thing he’s done. Evan Peters in episode six is one of the greatest, most hilarious things Evan has ever done and he loved it. He’s a very big, pivotal part of episode six, playing a completely different character than what we’ve seen him play. Evan is just the best, I love him.”

We all do! However, Peter’s isn’t the only AHS fave to look out for in the coming episodes.
Murphy confirmed that Taissa Farmiga will be returning for the first time since Coven, as well as Finn Wittrock, who will be playing what the creator considers “his most f*cked up character of all time.”
Well, that certainly gave us a lot to digest before Wednesday’s highly-anticipated episode.
