Wow! Good for them!
Ever since Steven Tyler joined the motley crew at American Idol, he and his Aerosmith bandmates have been reaping some serious benefits. Since the show premiered on Fox a few weeks ago, Aerosmith’s Greatest Hits collections have shot up more than 250% in sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan!
Just to kind of give you an idea of what we are talking about here: Before Idol started up, the band was selling a smidge under 1,000 copies a week from their catalogue. Now, they’ve sky-rocketed to well over 2,000 per release!
And it’s not just the albums that are selling well. At the end of January, the band’s breakout hit Dream On got 26,000 downloads, a good 318% spike over the week before. Same thing happened to I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing; it increased 363% in downloads! (Enjoy those royalties, Diane Warren!)
We dare say this might be the best thing that has happen to the fellas since I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing came out!
