Say goodbye to the “gentle giant” Jermaine Jones.
The American Idol contestant was dismissed from the show yesterday, after just making it to the live tapings, when producers were informed that Jones was arrested TWICE last year. Somehow, this bit of vital information wasn’t on their radar until late yesterday afternoon!
Point to you, research team!
One of Jones’ arrest involved an act of violence and he currently has an outstanding warrant as well. The former contestant announced on his official Idol Twitter feed that he was leaving before the show deleted the page in its entireity, saying:
“Awww I will no longer b on the show.”
There are such things as background checks, folks. Maybe we should start using them! This marks fourth time in Idol history that a contestant has gotten the boot this late in the competition. Frenchie Davis, of Season 2, however resurfaced on The Voice as well.
Will Idol try to bring back another contestant? Or is Idol a man down from now on?
