This is just awful! Someone needs to get on this FAST!

American Idol alum Elliot Yamin from season five was fortunate enough to survive the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Chile over the weekend. The singer has been in the country for the past eight days, playing at a musical festival 90 miles southwest of Santiago.

But the Type 1 diabetic crooner is slowly running out of supplies and fears for his health as he has been stranded with no way of receiving help. As of yet, he has been unable to reach the U.S Consulate at the embassy and if he does not get the medical supplies he needs soon, he could suffer from severe health problems – like a diabetic coma.

Elliot reached out the press in hopes that something could be done for him. He explained:

├óΓé¼┼ôI am a Type 1 diabetic and I only packed enough insulin supplies for my pump to last a couple more days, so I├óΓé¼Γäóm starting to worry. I don├óΓé¼Γäót know how long we├óΓé¼Γäóre going to be here. This country isn├óΓé¼Γäót very keen on insulin pumps; supplies for my pump are running low. Hospitals here are very crowded, and as you can imagine, they are dealing with bigger things…We├óΓé¼Γäóre close to the airport here, but it is closed except for emergency purposes. The information has been so scarce regarding flights, one minute we├óΓé¼Γäóre leaving Wednesday, and then it is Friday. Now they are saying it could be beyond that time. I heard this morning that festival officials are hoping to drive us to Mendoza in Argentina, but I├óΓé¼Γäóm not keen because we have to drive through the Andes Mountains. They├óΓé¼Γäóre colossal and its single lane traffic. They claim the roads are passable, but nobody really knows. I think I am better off staying put where I am, I don├óΓé¼Γäót want to take that death ride in an attempt to get to an airport…I hope to get home before I slip into a diabetic coma. That would be nice. I├óΓé¼Γäóm trying to be positive, I├óΓé¼Γäóm alive and well. I have all my limbs attached. I don├óΓé¼Γäót know how we all got out of there unscathed. I├óΓé¼Γäóm very grateful we lived to tell about it.├óΓé¼┬¥

This poor guy!

We hope that somehow, he gets the medicine he needs or even better, gets back to the States to receive treatment.

Our thoughts and well wishes go out to him in what we are sure is a very difficult and scary time for him.
