American Idol is on a steady path to losing money this year, as ratings are down 26% from last season!
Even with all the show’s changes in 2014, including the additions of Harry Connick Jr. and Jennifer Lopez to the judge’s panel, negative financials are unfortunately on the horizon for the first time since the premiere in 2002!
But what are some of the rumored reasons behind the money slump?!
The FOX series pays a ton for Ryan Seacrest and Jen, as they allegedly get $15 million each – as well as spending between $5-$7 million on a new set this year!
Did we mention it’s rumored to cost them $5 million for viewer phone calls alone?!
That said, the insiders are saying AI is probably not getting cancelled after this season, but hopefully they’ll be able to make up for their losses!
And if that doesn’t happens, it looks like they will have to snip their budget significantly!
