American Idol won the night of its big premiere Sunday, even beating out Fox‘s O.J. Simpson interview.
But on Monday the Katy Perry-powered reboot faced its real rival — NBC‘s ratings juggernaut The Voice, with their secret weapon — lovable Idol alum Kelly Clarkson.
So who won the singing competition competition??

ABC‘s Idol dropped from its premiere high of 10.3 million viewers (which was in fact an historic low for Idol premieres) to 8.4 mil, with a 1.8 rating in the key adults 18-49 demo.
But The Voice stood triumphant, even beating out Idol‘s premiere numbers with 11.7 million, and a 2.3 rating!
What’s more, that was about the same as last week when they didn’t have another singing show to compete with. Dang.
