Dick King-Smith, the author of the children’s book The Sheep-Pig, which later inspired the 1995 film Babe, passed away in his sleep on Tuesday.
We love Babe!
King-Smith was a best-selling author of over 100 books since he began writing in his fifties in 1978.
A farmer for 20 years after serving in the military, many of his beloved books featured animals in what he called farmyard fantasy
His 1990 story The Water Horse was also turned into a 2007 feature film starring Emily Watson and David Morrissey.
Rest in peace, sir, and thank you for making us smile through your words.
