The Blobfish Is Voted The Ugliest Animal!!

The Ugly Animal Preservation Society has voted and chosen their mascot…

The Blobfish!!

WHOA! It looks like a cartoon of a sad old man being melted by acid!

The society started as a science comedy night and came up with this mascot campaign to draw attention to ugly, but threatened species.

The winner was recently announced at the British Science Festival in Newcastle.

The society’s president said:

“Our traditional approach to conservation is egotistical. We only protect the animals that we relate to because they’re cute, like pandas. If extinction threats are as bad as they seem, then focusing just on very charismatic megafauna is completely missing the point. I have nothing against pandas, but they have their supporters. These species need help.”

Amen to that, brother!

The blobfish beat out the huge-nosed proboscis monkey, the pig-nosed turtle, the “scrotum” frog and more.

There are so many ugly animals who need saving toooooo!
