Britney Spears has joined the #FreeBritney movement… sort of.
The Baby One More Time singer has essentially thrown her own weight behind the movement’s goals, at least, after reportedly telling an L.A. judge last week that she wants to be freed from her conservatorship after being apparently held against her will at that mental health facility in the city last month.

As you’ll recall from our earlier reporting late last week, Britney stepped in front of a judge in an El Lay courtroom to discuss her conservatorship, and her mental health state. And according to sources with direct knowledge of the events that took place in that courtroom, who spoke to TMZ about it, Spears reportedly told the judge she wishes to be freed from her conservatorship, and that her father, Jamie Spears, committed her to that mental health facility where she stayed for about a month.
That was against her will, Spears reportedly claimed to the judge, and she was also forced to take drugs as doctors at that facility attempted to medicate her — again, against her will. Lynne Spears‘ lawyer reportedly echoed those allegations, as well.
It’s interesting… according to TMZ, Jamie does NOT have the legal power under the conservatorship to commit his daughter against her will, so any mental health facility that accepted the pop start against her will based on a conservator’s wishes would theoretically be committing a crime. The momma of two was also frequently seen out and about in El Lay during her stay in the place as she didn’t appear to be trapped inside and unable to leave, so who knows what to believe any more.
One thing is clear: the 37-year-old wants more freedom, including, ideally, an end to the now 11-year-long conservatorship altogether. The judge, as we reported, refused to order on that, but instead ordered an expert to fully evaluate Britney. Maybe that’ll get us somewhere…

Meanwhile, Brit’s ever-supportive BF Sam Asghari showed more of his love for the pop star on Sunday afternoon, posting a throwback pic of the pair on his Instagram account while wishing her a Happy Mother’s Day to Brit!

Times have sure been tough for Spears recently, but there’s no question that Asghari has been there through thick and thin, showing his support and being an advocate in her corner as the #FreeBritney movement continues and her conservatorship apparently drags on.
