Who is the “shithole” now?
According to a Washington Post article published on Sunday, Donald Trump reportedly used an Indian accent to imitate Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who have both expressed dissatisfaction with the amount of resources used by the war in Afghanistan.
According to senior administration officials, the President used the affectation to quote Modi, who told him in an Oval Office meeting last year, “Never has a country given so much away for so little in return.”

The businessman recited the saying as an example of how the rest of the world views the futile conflict between the U.S. and the South/Central Asian country.
In the article, senior military officials say the U.S. Army is potentially sending an additional 1,000 troops to Afghanistan this Spring beyond the 14,000 already in the country. Since Trump took office, at least 5,500 extra service members have been deployed.
As we reported earlier this month, Trump received intense backlash after he reportedly referred to African countries and Haiti as “shithole countries” in a meeting about immigration.
